If all yarn felt the same, there wouldn’t be much point in being here.
You’ll find yarns with real character: soft, structured, lofty, smooth — chosen for texture, hand, and how they actually behave once you start using them. Color matters, but it’s not the whole story. If a yarn pills immediately, stretches into sadness, or looks good only under fluorescent lights, it doesn’t make the cut.
The same goes for tools. These are things meant to be used, not babied. If it doesn’t feel right in the hand or hold up to real work, it’s not on the shelf.
Some projects start the moment you get home. Others start with a few skeins on the table, a tool in your hand, and a frank conversation about what’s realistic. Both are fine. Pretending a project will magically behave is where trouble begins.
This is a warm, lived-in shop where questions are encouraged, advice is honest, and good decisions are valued — even when they’re not the most exciting ones. Come in for yarn, tools, or perspective. You’ll leave with at least one of them.
At YARN sb, I don’t choose yarn casually — and I don’t choose vendors lightly.
The companies I work with are ones I’ve known for years. I trust them because I’ve tested their materials the only way that matters: by using them, living with them, and watching how they behave over time.
If I haven’t handled it, worked with it, worn it, washed it, and seen it hold up, it doesn’t belong on the shelf.

I’m not interested in chasing what’s new for the sake of being new, or filling the shop with things that photograph well but don’t deliver. I carry yarns made by people who understand their materials, stand behind their product, and respect the intelligence of the maker.
This shop is built on long relationships, shared standards, and a very low tolerance for gimmicks. These are yarns that do what they promise, age well, and don’t need apologies or explanations.
I don’t stock everything. I stock what has earned my confidence.
